Setting up Outlook for GMail

This post definitely get filed under the personal notes section, but maybe useful to others. This subject has been a moving goal over the last few years as Google have implemented different enhanced security features. This is correct as of Januray 2015.

This is the basic screen showing

Lets hit MORE SETTINGS

As you see, most of this GENERAL tab is empty. Lets look at the OUTGOING SERVER tab.

Now the ADVANCED tab

This is where the magic happens, note the use of SSL.

I successfully used these notes to setup other mail applications such as the Mac Mail application. You just have to cross walk it in your head.
